| Volunteers offer tastes of oil and olives explaining the historical importance of olives in Mission life |

Capturing and preserving this living history is a joint effort of the staff and parishioners at the California Missions, volunteers of the MOPREP Committee and local community groups including historical societies, garden clubs, and others. New volunteers are welcome!
What are the opportunities to volunteer?
PRESERVATION: 1. Participate in horticultural projects to replant olive groves at the missions. 2. Research mission olive history. 3. Research locations for "lost" mission groves.
RESTORATION: 1. Participate in work days to restore to health and beauty our ancient trees located at the mission and in historic groves.
EDUCATION: 1. Tell the public about the history of the Mission olive at local mission fiestas. 2. Help train mission docents. 3. Work with local school children to plant an olive tree at school and learn about its history.
FUND RAISING: Volunteer with other members at events selling and sampling Mission olive oil and olives, and selling young Mission olive trees and olive wood products.
1. Grow Trees: Coordination of taking cuttings from ancient groves and the propagation of new trees with donated services of nurseries, caring for new trees including potting, watering, fertilizing and spraying; preparing trees for sale and delivery to sales locations.
2. Festivals: Coordination and participation in the sale of olive trees, olives/olive oil products at festivals; preparing and participating in educational events. Procurement and inventory management of oil, olive and olive wood products for sale.
3. Grants/Donations: Researching/preparing to solicit and receive grants and/or donations. Periodic meetings of sponsors and advisors to assist MOPREP in setting strategic direction for fund raising.
